Patten was selected by the Calgary Roughnecks with the 26th overall selection in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft. Patten contributed 5 goals and 6 points during the 2021-2022 season as a mainstay on the PCLC defense.
Patten competed in Jr. A for the Barrie Lakeshores, where he contributed 36 points over 84 career games. While playing for Barrie, Patten led the entire OJALL in PIM’s with 94. In 2017, Patten joined the Okotoks Raiders and participated in the 2017 Minto Cup.
Patten played collegiately for Guelph University.
