Kurtz spent time with the Kitchener-Waterloo Braves in the OJALL where he took Rookie of the Year in 2016. He led the Braves in goals in 2017 and points and assists in 2018. At Delaware, he was a Third Team All-American his senior year in 2023 and ended his career as the all-time points and goals leader with 282 total points on 180 goals and 102 assists.
